At the International K9 Foundation I do all types of training with all types of dogs, regardless of the breed or the size. I specialize in Behavior modification and Problem solving. You will not find any off the wall or crazy training techniques here, nor do I use shock collars. Once the training is done, you will find that your dog is still the same sweet dog but with more control. I try to match a level of training according the dog and owners needs.I have 4 different levels of obedience, or obedience training programs, ranging from basic to more advanced programs like on and off leash obedience training. I do personal protection training, boarding and grooming with indoor kennels. If you’re not real crazy about the idea of leaving your dog while the training is done; I offer One on One private training session for you and your dog. During these sessions I’ll show you how to train your own dog. For more information click here (Pg4 Training and Services).I also offer something for puppy owners; it’s called a membership program. Once you become a member, I’ll help you raise your puppy including housebreaking and bad habits. You will get all the advice, guidance and support you need while raising your puppy. When someone becomes a client or member, you are client or member for the life of the dog. The relationship doesn’t end once your dog has completed training nor is no longer a puppy. Clients and members can call, email, ask questions, get advice or stop by and show off their dog.Think of your dog as a child and not a dog. When you do this, you can start to understand the Mental and psychological aspects of training and behavior. When you think about behavior Modification it’s easier if you think in terms of cause and effect. A dogs experience can effect and or change his behavior just as training will have an effect on the dog’s behavior. We want the training to have a positive effect on the dog’s behavior. At the International K9 Foundation I try to gain an accurate picture of your dog overall. It’s important to understand your dogs Personality, Drives, Temperament, experiences and his history. All of these areas have an effect on your dogs overall behavior. Understanding these areas helps determine the method of training, how it’s applied, and how much training is needed.Obedience training is a means to interact with your dog, a way to communicate. Obedience training is communication which gives you control. You can use obedience to correct for inappropriate behavior in a way he or she understands. A basic obedience program can solve about all your behavioral problems simply by giving you a level of control over your dog.Obedience does so much more though. Example: A shy and submissive dog, the dog that tucks the tail, starts to pee and lies at your feet. Training can have a positive impact on this dog. Obedience can help build confidence and self esteem, thus modifying the dog’s behavior. If you have a weak dog or would like to see a little more confidence in your dog, obedience training can help. If you have an overly aggressive dog, the obedience training can give you a level of control and a means to correct his behavior. The more obedience you have; greater is control, confidence and self esteem of your dog. When doing obedience training we are actually teaching your dog vocabulary words. The motion or action of each command is the definition. This stimulates the learning, thus causing the dog to focus on you, thus giving you greater control.Exercising your dog is great, but it can only help so much. Exercising your dog will not give you control over your dog. You need to exercise your dog mentally, his attention span and his focus. Obedience training does this by taking all of that idle energy and re-channeling it into something constructive. Obedience training gives your dog something to focus on. Your dog gets a mental workout while giving you control. This is much better then throwing the ball, hoping your dog wears himself out. Once he’s rested you still have the same problem though, no control.Once obedience training is done, it will need to be maintained. You will need to practice the obedience. Not only is it a good mental workout for your dog, but it can be a bonding experience as well. Most importantly, it’s the practice of discipline. It is the practice of you saying it and the dog doing it. This will set the tone and carry over into all aspect of his life and behavior. For obedience training to be effective, it has to be enforced. A dog can love you but not respect you. Your dog has to respect you like a child would respect his or her parents.

Lev I or basic obedience can help adjust behavior. I’m sure you have control most of the time. I’m sure your dog has learned and does know allot commands or tricks.
This however, is not obedience. Obedience is communication which gives of the control and the means to correct for bad behavior. Being able to correct your dog for bad behavior, reward for good behavior teaches your dog what’s appropriate and inappropriate. So, basic obedience will give you the means to correct your dog when they display this behavior.
Right now, you really have no means to correct your dog’s behavior. Whatever you’re using as discipline, they do not associate it with their behavior. Without obedience the dog has no vocabulary or context for what you are saying or doing.

The characteristics of a dogs breed can be used as a guide line. This doesn’t mean your dog will have all of these characteristics. Every dogs is different, so it depends on the individual dog. Example, Just because a dog is a Shepard doesn’t it will or can do all the things you see on TV or read about. Try looking at the parents, what can they do? What have they done? Pick a dog that is best suited for your life style. If you are low drive, meaning not very active, then pick a low drive dog. If the dogs’ parents are inside dogs, they lay around, hangout, wont chase a ball for longer then a few minutes…low drive. If the parents chase a ball all day long and bounce of the walls…High Drive.

A dogs breed is just a guide line, Nothing more.

Civilian, Law Enforcement and Military experience in the U.S and overseas. Basic and Advanced Obedience, On and Off leash Obedience, Behavior Modification, Problem Solving, House Breaking, Protection, Grooming and Boarding.

Training methods are based upon the dog’s personality. A dog can have one of six basic personality types or a combination of one or more. The method most commonly used is a combination and Drive training and K9 compulsion.

Obedience will solve 98% of all Behavioral problems. Obedience is Communication which gives us the Control. So, a dog that is pulling on the leash, we would use obedience to correct the problem. Now that you have control over your dog, you can use the Obedience to navigate and correct just about any behavioral problem.

Just a bit about Obedience Training:

I know your Dog is your Best friend and I want to be your Dogs New Best Friend.

At the International K9 Foundation we do all types of training with all types of dogs. We specialize in Behavior modification and Problem solving. First, think of your dog as a person and not a dog. When you do this, you can start to understand the Mental and psychological aspects of training and behavior. When you think about behavior Modification it’s easier if you think in terms of cause and effect. A dogs experience can effect and or change his behavior just as training will have an effect on the dogs’ behavior. Just remember, we want the training to have a positive effect on the dogs behavior. At the International K9 Foundation an evaluation is done to obtain a accurate picture of your dog overall. Something like this includes Personality, Drives, Temperament, lifestyle and experiences. All of these areas have an effect on your dogs overall behavior. Evaluating these areas will help us determine the method of training, how it’s applied, and how much training is needed. Think of obedience training as a means to interact with your dog, a way to communicate. You can use obedience to correct for inappropriate behavior in a way he or she understands. A basic obedience program can solve about 90% of all your behavioral problems simply by giving you a level of control over your dog. Example: A shy and submissive dog, the dog that tucks the tail, starts to pee and lies at your feet. Training can have a positive impact on this dog. Obedience can help build confidence and self esteem, thus modifying the dogs’ behavior. Also, obstacle course work can be used to strengthen and build the same areas in the dog. Sometimes the dog can be so submissive that obstacle course work has to be done before the actual obedience training is done. Well, you don’t have to but it does make a big difference in the obedience. So, bottom line…If you have a weak dog or would like to see a little more confidence in your dog, the obedience training can help. If you have an overly aggressive dog, the obedience training can give you a level of control and a means to correct his behavior. Now, keep in mind that not every trainer can do this for you but I can. A basic obedience program includes 5 commands and takes about 5 days before your dog is done. That’s right, 5 days. These basic commands are the commands you will need to interact with your dog on a daily basis. Somewhere down below I have a list of all the commands I teach and the programs. This basic program will solve about 90% of the behavioral problems you are having right now. Something else to keep in mind, the more obedience training you have; the greater the control, confidence and self esteem of your dog. When doing obedience training we are actually teaching your dog vocabulary words, yep..thats right. The motion or action of each command is the definition. This stimulates the learning, thus causing the dog to focus on us, thus giving us greater control. Now, take it from me that exercising your dog until his tongue is hanging out, will not solve your problems. The problems will still be there once he’s rested. Okay, just a few more things…I teach Heel on the left side, stepping off with the left foot, so when you lead with the right foot the dog stays put, that’s implied stay. Next, all training and programs come with lessons, that’s right..I said lessons. You need to know what each command looks like so you can tell if your dog is doing it right or not. You will also need to know how to correct your dog if he or she is not doing the command correctly.
